Directed by the Department of Institutional Advancement, the Medaille College Grants Office provides the campus community with a variety of services related to grants development and grants management. The purpose of the Grants Office is to prepare and submit institutional grant proposals; to make the grant writing process as straightforward as possible for faculty and administration; and to encourage grant submissions. There are two types of grants that the Grants Office promotes:

  • Institutional Grants - These grants support the initiatives of the entire College such as Scholarships, Endowment, and Capital Campaigns; and
  • Departmental or Targeted Grants - These grants support educational, student activities, and other programs at the College and therefore have an impact our students and faculty.

These grants typically fund programs such as distance learning, research projects, and conferences.

The Grants Office will provide a range of services for the campus community, which include:

  • Assist in developing new grants and assist in the management of grants already established.
  • Idea development.
  • Funding searches.
  • Budget and proposal preparation.
  • Proposal review; ensuring that proposals contain all required signatures, assurances and certifications.
  • Reproduce and mail final proposals.

If you have an idea, and would like to see if it may be funded by a grant, please contact the Grants Office to set up an appointment! If you are a student looking for tuition assistance, please contact the Financial Aid Office for information pertaining to scholarships.

The Grant Process

Grant Idea Submission Form (Online)

The Medaille College Grants Office should always be notified if you intend to submit a grant proposal to any funding source. The Grants Office should also always have a copy of a submitted proposal, and be involved in overseeing an awarded grant. This is important for a few reasons:

  • (1) it avoids duplication of proposals
  • (2) some funding sources only allow submissions from an organization once during a certain time period (even up to a few years!).

Therefore, we need to make sure it is the appropriate time/project to address that particular source for support.

In General, the grant process should be as follows:

Project Idea › Get Approval from Division Head › Division Head Receives President's Approval (When Necessary) › Get Grant Project Approval Form Signed › Contact Grants Office to Gain Support/Inform of Project › Develop Proposal with the Support of Grants Office › Get Appropriate Signatures on Grant Project Approval Form (Dept. Heads & Director of Institutional Advancement) › All Grants Must Be Submitted by the Grants Office.
